It's Jazz just like you like it: like you've never heard before.

“Best jazz quartet in the state. These guys are all international touring musicians. They brought class, style, and an incredible stage presence to our Omniture event. ”

An Alpine Christmas

Enjoyed two nights before a very warm house at “An Alpine Christmas,” an annual concert thrown by April Moriarty, Todd McCabe, and their terrific team. Joining us onstage were a lot of terrific artists, including jazz phenom Suzy Lind. Suzy’s band (Brady Bills on guitar, Aaron McMurray on bass, and Jesse Quebbeman-Turley on drums) joined Sam on night two, with smokin’ performances of “Church,” and “Mr. Grinch.” We’re close enough to some album releases that we spent a few days burning copies to sell at the merch table. Hotcakes. So much fun.

Looking around for something on the Internet about Joshua’s gig last night at the Capitol Theater. He was the guest of guitar legend Frank Vignola. It was a heck of a show, and one of Joshua’s fans posted on his Facebook page afterword: “The Righteous Chops were out in full force. JP threw DOWN!!! Great show, & you played like you’d been on their roster for years. What a treat.” Amen to that. Way to go, Josh.  You can read about the concert here (the article doesn’t mention Josh, but we promise, he was there).

Ryan and Sam had a great time the other night, entertaining at the Soundcheck Series workshop in Salt Lake City. That’s a great series, designed to help indie songwriters get a leg up in the biz. This month’s speaker was Bob Baker, author of several books on guerilla marketing for musicians. Bob did a terrific job, and we were glad to be guests on the evening as well. Find out more about Soundcheck right here.

What a treat, to be invited again to play at the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival. This event is truly one of the performing arts wonders of the west. About four thousand people in the audience, gathered to hear some of the nation’s best storytellers and featured Utah live bands.. It was our pleasure to share that stage, and darned if we didn’t look in the wings and see some of those storytellers tapping their toes!

We just finished an extensive recording session at Metcom in Salt Lake City. Our performances were captured live, many of the songs performed before a live studio audience. Since we play shows for all kinds of events, whether it is a high-class corporate event, a gorgeous wedding, or a festival stage, we are so used to creating music in the context of a celebration, that we wanted to create that atmosphere in the studio. Here are some amazing shots of our live studio performance, shot by the incredible photographer Russ Dixon, and good friend (and quite the photographer as well) Tamilisa Miner.
